The Balinese is a domestic cat breed characteristically seen with a long, svelte frame covered by an equally long, hassle-free, single coat in pointed colors of seal, blue, chocolate, or lilac. Marking this breed's most easily-identifiable trait is a plush, very distinct, plume of a tail. An extended set of legs, head, and body to match complete this feline's overall, “long," appearance; both agile and muscular at the same time. Balinese bear a similar sense of loyalty and knack for being alert, aware, and notably receptive, as their closely-related, Siamese ancestors. An intelligent breed with a unique and vibrant personality, the Balinese enjoys games such as fetch, and will easily acclimate to life in homes with or without children or other types of pets. While exact roots of this breed's origin remain unclear, the selective breeding and development of this long-haired cat breed's traits appeared only as a random genetic variation and in sparse, occasional litters, up until the 1940's.
