As this breed’s name suggests, the BC is a well- defined breed of dog of the hound family, seen with a moderately coarse, shiny coat in a black and white coat with blue mottling. Black spots cover this breed’s back, ears, and eyes, while occational accents of appear in an accent along the breed’s eyes and body. A broad, slightly dome-shaped skull, square muzzle, widely-set eyes, and prominent stop provide the BC with an astute appearance. Friendly and intelligent, this breed is noted as a real, “problem solver.” Though a bit challenging to train, once this is complete, these dogs serve as tried-and true, honorable companions for many. Great around children with a tendency to howl or bark frequently, the Borzoi greets is known to greet it’s callers with a very distinct howling sound. Originating in Louisiana as a descendant of the English Foxhound, Bleu Gascogne French Hound, and/ or cur dogs, the BC was valued for their unbelievable speed and agility. Growing to reach 21-27” in height at the shoulder at 55-80lbs. once fully mature, the average BC has a lifespan of 11-12 years of age.
