The Bombay is a domestic breed of cat with a shiny, black, close-lying coat with a satin-like texture. Widely-based ears with somewhat rounded tips complement this breed’s set of bold, gold-to-copper-colored eyes. Bombays are both affectionate and playful at the same time. Demonstrating many dog-like qualities, these cats are known to train quickly and easily to walk using a on a leash and harness. Developing over the span of 18 years, this breed developed during the late 1950’s as the result of a planned breeding between a Burmese and an American Shorthair by Kentucky breeder Nikki Horner. Members of this breed mature fairly quickly comparatively to other breeds, typically growing between 6-11lbs. in weight once fully mature.
