Exotic Shorthair
Exotic Shorthairs are a domestic cat breed most accurately characterized by a distinctly round appearance. Seen with a short, fluffy coat in most any color or pattern-type, this breed is renowned for providing the highly sought-after appearance of the Persian in an easily-managed, low-fuss package. Both the tail and ears of this breed are short and round-tipped; while a set of strikingly wide-awake eyes in most any corresponding color, such as green, copper, gold, or blue, work to emphasize the breed’s overall sinuous appearance. Members of this breed are rarely skittish or demanding. Especially quiet in nature with an amicable personality, these cats are well-suited to live in most any environment, with or without children or other types of pets. Nick-named the, “Lazy Man’s Persian,” the Exotic Shorthair breed originated in the early 1960’s, and remained under development until achieving recognition with the CFA in 1967. These cats grow to reach 9-12lbs. in weight once fully mature, with an average lifespan of 9-15 years of age.
