The Golden Retriever is an athletic, medium-sized sporting dog with an amicable and accommodating temperament. Their feathered, medium-length coat appears in shades that range from a blonde to dark golden color. Friendly, brown eyes and an expressive face give the Golden Retriever a warm and, “personable” look. An intelligent and versatile breed, the Golden Retriever is easily trained. Well-suited in homes with children, as well as, other pets, Golden Retrievers are noted for their easy-going and friendly nature. A particular adoration for both swimming, as well as, fetching fuels the Golden Retrievers need for daily exercise or physical activity. Originating as a bird dog in the British Isles during the 19th century, the Golden Retriever excels in its work both on land and in water. An outstanding scenting ability and willingness to learn makes Golden Retrievers a popular breed of choice for search and rescue, therapy, service, and guide work. The lifespan of an average Golden Retriever ranges between 10-12 years. Golden Retrievers typically reach 20-24” in height, weighing 55-80lbs. once full grown.
