Miniature Schnauzer
The Miniature Schnauzer is a compact breed of dog with a square build, appearing in color combinations of salt with pepper, black, or white, and black with silver. Prominent eyebrows, beard, and mustache accentuate the Miniature Schnauzer’s long snout, while dark, oval-shaped eyes, a black nose, and forward-folding, v-shaped ears provide the breed with an alert appearance of all their own. An energetic and perky breed, Miniature Schnauzers are known for their playful and intelligent temperament, and make great pets in homes with or without children. Typically requiring a moderate amount of attention from their owners, this breed is easily trained, despite their instinctually feisty, mischievously lighthearted nature. Miniature Schnauzers are considerably vocal. Originating and bred in Germany during the 1800’s, the Miniature Schnauzer was achieved as a result from a cross between the Standard Schnauzer and one or more of the Poodle, Miniature Pinscher, or Affenpinscher, and were used to clear farms of rats and other vermin. Generally growing to reach 12-15” in height at 10-20lbs. once fully mature, Miniature Schnauzers have an average lifespan of 15 years of age.
