Argentine Dogo - A muscular breed of the Mastiff family, the Argentine Dogo is can be seen with a short, smooth coat in the color of white. This breed’s brood, slightly domed, skull is adorned by a powerful jaw and a set of ears held closely to the dog’s head. Also characteristic of the breed is a lowly-set tail, which tapers from its wide base to a form a point at the tip. The Argentine Dogo’s overall presence is strong and powerful. Argentine Dogos are loyal and affectionate dogs known for forming an especially strong bond with their owners. Widely serving as both affectionate companion and fearless guardian, the Argentine Dogo is well-suited as a pet in a variety of living environments. Homes with or without children with at least a medium sized yard are recommended. This breed is notably intelligent, and will respond or catch on quickly to training. With a natural keenness for hunting and tracking, this breed was once used to hunt large game such as cougar, wild boar, and mountain lion. Argentine Dogos first appeared in Argentina during the 1920’s as the result of a cross between 10 separate breeds. Growing 24-27” in height at 80-110lbs. once fully mature, the average Argentine Dogo Lives to reach between 10-12 years of age.
