Borzoi - The Borzoi is a graceful, elegant breed of dog appearing with a long, silky, curly or straight topcoat in most any color. Their soft, warm, undercoat sheds seasonally, becoming almost non-existent during the warmer summer months. The Borzoi’s build is a streamlined one, combining the look of a curvy figure with one of elegance and strength. Quiet and intelligent, Borzois maintain a gentle and sensitive disposition in most all situations. As repetition can easily bore these animals, their quick–to learn, responsive nature will perform best when stimulated. Also commonly known as the Russian Wolfhound, this breed’s name loosely translates from Russian to read, “Quick Dog,” which is well - befitted. Originating as a descendant of the Saluki and a breed of dog called the Psovoi, these dogs were once owned exclusively and popularly given as gifts by Russian Tsars of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Growing to reach 26-28” in height at 60-105lb.s once fully mature, the Borzoi typically lives between 10-12 years of age.
