German Shepherd Dog Breeders

 		 German Shepherd Dog - The German Shepherd is a sturdy, muscular herding dog appearing in three varieties: rough-coated, long rough-coated, and long-haired. German Shepherds have a sound yet light frame. The color of their coat can range from black with tan, to sable, or all-black. A long, bushy tail, along with, a set of forward-facing, broad- based ears are characteristic. The German Shepherds’ black nose and dark, almond- shaped, eyes create an intelligent expression. First gaining notoriety in Germany during the late 1800’s, German Shepherds are known for their loyal and courageous nature. Weariness to strangers and a very strong protective instinct makes them excellent guard dogs. German Shepherds exhibit a tendency to be close to their families, and do best if not left home alone routinely. A high learning ability and ease of trainability has led German Shepherds to specialize in an assortment of roles, ranging from search and rescue, to police work, to guide dog. A keen and direct breed, German Shepherds are always apt for a challenge. The average lifespan of a German Shepherd generally lasts about 13 years; growing 22-26” in height and weighing in between 75-85lbs. once full grown.
