Great Dane - The Great Dane is a tall, working mastiff appearing with a smooth, sleek coat in fawn, brindle, blue, black, harlequin, and mantle varieties. Characteristic of these enormous dogs is a tall, muscular neck, gracefully accentuated by a long, slender head, and prominent stop with large nasal canal. Sweet, round eyes provide the breed with an intelligent expression. Known for their impressive and regal demeanor, Great Danes offer the security and stability of a large breed with a friendly and gentle temperament. They are courageous and dependable; tried and true. Although they are fairly inactive indoors, homes with a large yard will best suit this breed. Great Danes are notably sociable around children, unfamiliar people, and even other animal types.
