Ragdoll - The Ragdoll is a breed of cat most easily popularly known for a large stature and gentle, placid temperament. This breed’s soft, low-maintenance, semi-longhaired coat appears in several colors, including seal, blue, chocolate, or lilac, in colorpoint, mitted, or bicolor pattern-types. Common is an accent of fur growing along breed’s neck and hindquarters to create an appearance of britches and a ruff. A bushy tail, large, oval-shaped, blue eyes, and two, forward-tilting, rounded ears enhance the Ragdoll’s sweet, curvilinear profile. Considerably serene and amicable, Ragdolls demonstrate an ability to quickly adjust in living environments containing families, small children, elderly, dogs, and even other cats. Those who favor the look of a full-bodied, long-haired cat breed find a comparatively hassle-free alternative in the Ragdoll breed. Named after a tendency to go limp when picked up, this breed originated in California during the 1960’s as a descendant of select Persian, Birman, and Burmese bloodlines. Actively bred for their passive temperament and large size, Ragdolls typically continue to grow until reaching maturity at 3 years of age. Peaking at 10-20lbs. in weight, Ragdolls remain the largest fully domesticated feline breed available.
