Siamese - The Siamese is a popular domestic cat breed traditionally seen in a short, creamy base coat accented by dark brown-to- black points along the tail, lower legs, paws, nose, and ears. Stunningly bright-blue, almond-shaped eyes are also characteristic of the breed. Siamese are highly intelligent, outgoing, and affectionate felines with a notably vocal charm. These cats require a significant amount of attention from their owners, with whom they share a tendency to bond especially close. This connection is often expressed by utilizing a distinct, low-pitched voice to demand an owner’s companionship or diligence. With a name loosely translating to read, “Moon Diamond,” and said to have originated in Southeast Asia’s nation of Siam (now known as Thailand) hundreds of years ago, Siamese have been documented as one of the first distinctly recognizable Oriental cat breeds still in existence today. Achieving their popularity in late 19th Century Britain, these cats serve as the foundation stock for several, newer breeds of cat, including the Balinese, Burmese, Himalayan, and more.
