Wire Fox Terrier - The Wire Fox Terrier originated in England for foxhunting during the 18th century. The Wire Fox Terrier would provoke the fox with the intent of getting the fox to abandon its hole. The Fox Terrier relishes in rough and difficult terrain, where many other dogs would have difficulty. The Wire Fox Terrier has a coat that is resilient to rough terrain. Despite their foxhunting purpose, Wire Fox Terriers are primarily companion dogs today. The AKC recognizes them as apart of the Terrier Group. They are a small breed and have a white coat that is wiry with black or brown markings. They are very determined, strong dogs with great courage. Males stand 14-16 inches in height; females are 13-15 inches. Males weigh 15-20 pounds and females weigh 13-18 pounds. |
